Q

Parts of a neuron and there function

A

Cell body - life support centre
Dendrites - Branching extensions at the cell body.
Axon - long single extension of a neuron , covered up with myelin sheath to speed up message through the neuron
Axon terminal - Branched endings of an axon that transmit messages to other neurons .
Synapse - to transfer electric activity from one cell to another
Neurotransmitter -chemicals that are released from vesicles.

15
Q

Cerebellum

A

Portion of the brain at the back of the head , The cerebellum receives information from the sensory systems, the spinal cord, and other parts of the brain and then regulates motor movements. The cerebellum coordinates voluntary movements such as posture, balance, coordination, and speech, resulting in smooth and balanced muscular activity.

16
Q

Frontal Lobe

A

Location : Upper area

The frontal lobe carries out higher mental processes such as thinking , decision making and planning

17
Q

Left and right hemisphere

A

right : Responsible for control of the left side of the body, and is the more artistic and creative side of the brain
left: Responsible for control of the right side of the body, and is the more academic and logical side of the brain

18
Q

Autonomic nervous system

A

the part of the nervous system that don’t need to be told what to do and when to do it such as breathing and digestive processes.

19
Q

Parts of the PNS

A

( Peripheral Nervous System ) the peripheral nervous system is one of the two main parts of the nervous system. The main function of the PNS is to connect the CNS ( Central nervous system ).

20
Q

Parts of the CNS

A

( Central Nervous System ) the CNS controls most of the body and mind

21
Q

Three types of neurons in CNS and PNS

A

Inter-neurons
Efferent Neurons
Astrocytes

22
Q

Parietal Lobe

A

Location: Upper back

Processes taste , temp and touch

23
Q

Occipital Lobe

A

Location : Lower back

Responsible for visual information from the eyes

24
Q

Corpus callosum

A

Connects the left and right hemisphere together

25
Q

Temporal Lobe

A

Location : Right behind temples

Responsible for hearing

26
Q

Brainstem

A

The brain stem is the stem like part of the base that connects to the spinal cord.

27
Q

Cerebrum

A

Makes up majority of the human brain
