Q

Motor efferent neurons

A

Efferent= exit

Carry info FROM CNS to effectors

2 types:

  1. Somatic motor neurons: innervate skeletal muscles n is under voluntary control
  2. Autonomic motor neurons: innervate visceral smooth muscle, cardiac muscle n glands. Involuntary. Further divided to SNS and PNS nervous systems

Q

Sensory afferent neurons

A

Afferent= arrive

Carry info TO the CNS
2 categories of sensory neurons:
1.Somatic sensory neurons: transmit info from skin/skeletal muscle to CNS
2. Visceral Sensory neurons: transmit info from internal organs n blood vessles to CNS

Q

PNS

A
Made of spinal nerves (nerves that come off spinal cord) and
Cranial nerves ( nerves that come off brain + brain stem)

A

Formed by wrappings of either
Schwann cells/neurolemmocytes (PNS) or

17
Q

Reflex arc

A

Pathway bw stimulus n response. Involves both CNS and PNS.

5 components of typical reflex arc: receptor

Effector
18
Q

Saltatory conduction

A

During action potential, it goes slowly through the nodes of ranvier n faster through places that hav axons- ie it appears to b jumpin bw the nodes of ranvier
