NPE.. Acute onset of pulmonary edema from a CNS insult, thought to be from catecholamines that result in cardiopulmonary dysfunction

A
Rapid extreme elevation in ICP. The abrupt increase in ICP leads to neuronal compression,ischemia, damage and is believe to give rise to an intense cathechol response

From catechol surge. Can make pts susceptible to NPE

A
Often within minuts
Acutely dyspneic, tachypneic, hypoxic with pink frothy sputum and bilateral crackles and rales
