Nigeria supplies 2.2% of the world’s oil. In 2020, Nigeria was the 27th largest economy in the world. Nigeria has also been a major contributor to UN peacekeeping missions around the world.

Nigeria has one of the fastest growing economies in Africa and it has the largest population in Africa.

Nigeria was ruled by the UK as a colony up until 1960, where Nigeria became independent.

Nigeria suffered years of political instability, from 1960 to 1999, their government wasn’t spending the money on the country but themselves which affected their development and led to widespread corruption.

Nigeria is a multi-ethnic and multi-faith country and this led to a civil war in 1967-1970. There has also been an economic inequality between the Islamic north and Christian south of Nigeria, which has created tension and a negative impact on the economy.
