Indications for egd

• age >55
• unexplained iron deficiency anemia
• heme-positive stools
• Progressive dysphagia
• weight loss
• new onset dyspepsia
• vomiting
• family hx of GI malignancy

Treatment

Answer 2

• test for h pylori and treat if positive

- if h pylori is neg then treat with ppi for 4-6 wks

Diagnostic criteria

• bothersome postprandial fullness
• early satiety
• epigastric pain
• epigastric burning
• no ulcer or GERD
