Northumbria Uni Flashcards

1
Q

Why did you apply for Northumbria uni?

A

My mam attended Northumbria and graduated in November. She has informed me on the facilities and even the when the placements and exams were to happen. I read the Nursing course on the Northumbria website and it caught my attention that students will have access to the library, which is the third best in the UK. At my sixth form we had a library but it was very small barely everyone could fit in it, so I’m looking forward to enjoying this access.

Q

Why have you chosen to pursue nursing?

A

Studying biology has helped me gain an in depth understanding to how living things function and this will help me to identify and therefore treat, the problems that I may encounter in my future career. but a few months after seeing my Grandfather in Ethiopia, he had become very sick. In Ethiopia, they weren’t that many qualified nursing staff, so he was left to look for himself most of the time. My dad and my auntie went over there to see him in his last days, they made a huge impact on his health by sticking by his side the whole time. To conclude, the fact that they weren’t nurses but still made him feel much better shows that being a nurse is about how much commitment and compassion do you have to support the people who are in your care.

Q

How do you cope with stress?

A

When i feel any type of stress, I usually speak to my friends and family as they usually relive me of all my worries. Although I procrastinate during school times, with exams and coursework. I try and take a minute to make a studied timetable to organize what work I should do, this helps me get the work done faster.

Q

Can you think of a team situation where your communication skills have been essential? Tell us more about the situation and how you contributed.

A

As written in my personal statement, I volunteered to help the parents and their children who were interested in attending at my school. They were about four groups and it was mine and another students responsibility to guide and answer any questions that the visitors had. A lot of communication skills were used, showing them around and giving them some what understanding. The parents reported that we were brilliant helped massively.
