Proper nouns
refer to spacific people and place: Paris, Andrew
common nous
refer to types of places, people and nouns
concrete nouns
refer to things that exist physically: computer, house, dog
Abstract noun
refer to things that do not exist physically: feelings, ideas, and qualities: friendship, sadness, democracy
collective nouns
refering to groups of people, animals or objects: team, family,flock
attributive adjectives
pre-modifying- the sudden noise (sudden comes before the noun)
post modifying
post-modfying- grammer is brilliant (comes after the noun)
comparative adjecives
Compares one noun to another even if the other nouon does not feature in the sentence: the list was bigger than ever
superlative adjectives
demonstrates that the adjective is the least or the most. usually end with ‘-est’ nd denote extreme ends of a supectrum eg ‘iggest’, ‘strongeset’ or ‘least’, ‘smallest’
noun phrase
Nouns modified by adjectives that could be raplaced by a pronoun: ‘the beautiful animal was kept inside a cage’(the beautiful animal being the non phrase)
