There are 3 types of number systems
Binary(n2)
Decimal (n10)
Hexadecimal (n16)
Define a binary system
It is a 2 number based system of 0 and 1 where 0 is off and 1 is on.
The word bi tells us it’s two.
Define a decimal system
It’s is a 10 based system determined by the word deci=1/10, 10m=1m and decade=10. This tells us that it’s a ten based system with 10 different numbers from 0 to 9.
Define a Hexadecimal system
It is a 16 based system determined by the word hexa which tells that its 6 and deci which equals 10,so 6 plus 10 equals 16. Where 10 are the numbers from 0 to 9 and 6 are the number 10 to 15 is represented with the letters A to F.
Binary to decimal
Place values actual values that added when they are on
Hexadecimal to binary
Divide up hexadecimal into 2 separate numbers that fall under 8 4 2 1
The numbers that make up the separate hex number are on and the rest off
Decimal to binary
Place values actual numbers that make up the decimal are on and the rest are off.
Decimal to hexadecimal
Convert to binary
Divde binary into 2 groups with 8 4 2 1
Numbers that are on in separate groups are added
Final number from both groups are put together however not added.
