Asthma ladder

A

Short acting B-2 agonist

Inhaled corticosteroid 800 μg/day Adult 400μg/day children

Add LABA & If no/poor response to LABA, increase inhaled corticosteroid to 800 mcg/day if not already on this dose

Add any or all of the following as determined by empirical trial; Increase inhaled steroid up to 2000μg/day, Oral β2-agonist, Leukotriene receptor antagonist, Theophylline, Cromone

Add daily oral steroid or regular booster courses of oral steroid
