Short acting B-2 agonist
Inhaled corticosteroid 800 μg/day Adult 400μg/day children
Add LABA & If no/poor response to LABA, increase inhaled corticosteroid to 800 mcg/day if not already on this dose
Add any or all of the following as determined by empirical trial; Increase inhaled steroid up to 2000μg/day, Oral β2-agonist, Leukotriene receptor antagonist, Theophylline, Cromone
Add daily oral steroid or regular booster courses of oral steroid
COPD risk factors
Genes (e.g. alpha1-antitrypsin deficiency) Hyperresponsiveness Lung growth Occupational dust and chemical Tobacco smoke
Theophylline - COPD
Useful, side effects + low dose
O2 - COPD
Long term (15+ hr)
PO2 7.3 kPa or below on 2 separate occasions
PO2 7.3-8.0 kPa in presence of pulmonary hypertension

Varencline
Bupropion
Support programme
