  • Cyp3A4 interactions = over/under dosing

  • competes and displaces opioids at receptor sites
  • Overdose antidote
  • can make withdrawal worse

Naltrexone

A

Antagonist (pure)

  • high affinity for Mu receptor
  • used for overdose
  • used for tx of alcohol use disorder
    • when used for overdose can cause pts to respond to lower opioid doses in future = potentially fatal opioid intoxication
  • can make withdrawal worse

used ti tx diarrhea

  • very safe
  • people take 400-500 tabs per day when addicted and cant get other opiods
  • use naloxone for overdose

used to tx opioid use disorder
*** DANGEROUS with Benzos = QT Prolongation (can cause death "fatal arrythmia"
