6
Q

Name the electromagnetic spectrum, weakest to stronkest.

A

Radio Waves (wtf who still uses radios), Microwaves (ramen), Infared light (light but heat), UV rays (enemy of sunscreen), X-Ray (broken wrist), Gamma Rays (3rd letter of the alphabet in greece)

Q

What is color blindness?

A

Color blindness occurs when there is a problem with the pigments in certain nerve cells of the eye that sense color called cones (ice cream).

Q

Where are cone cells found?

A

Cone cells are found in the light sensitive layer of tissue at the back of your eye known as your retina.

Q

What is incandescent light?

A

Incandescent light is produced by an object at very high temperatures (think how you see your crush hehe).

Q

What is fluorescent light?

A

Produced when ultraviolet radiation is applied to substances (uv rays react with stuf and light go brrr)

Q

What is chemiluminesence?

A

Light produced by chemical reactions. Typically very little heat, referred to as cool light. (Chemistry + Magic = Light)

Q

What is triboluminesence?

A

Light produced from the friction of crystals (if you take two quartz crystals and rub them together, it will produce light).

16
Q

What is the law of reflection?

A

Angle of incidence = Angle of reflection

17
Q

Angle of incidence = [?]

A

Angle of reflection

18
Q

Light always travels in a [1] line called [2].

A
  1. Straight
  2. Rays
19
Q

[?] always travels in a straight line called rays.

A

Light

20
Q

The use of [1] when it [2] an object is called [3] optics.

A
  1. Light rays
  2. hits
  3. Geometric
21
Q

In diagrams, light rays are shown as a [1] + [2] to represent the [3] and [4] the light is travelling. This is known as the [5] model of light.

A
  1. Line
  2. Arrow
  3. Direction
  4. Path
  5. Ray
22
Q

What are incident rays?

A

Incident rays are rays colliding with a surface (not after a collision)

23
Q

Depending on the surface, when light rays strikes it can: [1], [2] or [3]

A
  1. Bounce off (reflection)
  2. Be absorbed
  3. Pass through
24
Q

What is reflection?

A

Reflection is when light bounces off a surface.

25
Q

What are reflected rays?

A

Reflected rays are light rays that have bounced off a surface.

26
Q

What is a transparent object?

A

Most or all light passes through an object.

27
Q

What is a translucent object?

A

Some light passes through and some is reflected or absorbed.

28
Q

What is the index of refraction?

A

n = c/v
n = index of refraction
c = speed o. light in a vacccum
v = speed of light in the material.

29
Q

What does opaque mean?

A

Little to no light passes through and is reflected or absorbed instead.

30
Q

What is a mirror?

A

Any polished surface reflecting all light.

31
Q

What is a plane mirror?

A

Flat reflective surface

32
Q

What is the normal line?

A

The normal line is an imaginary line perpendicular to the surface that light is being reflected or refracted on

33
Q

What is the angle of incidence?

A

Angle between incident ray and normal line

34
Q

What is the angle of reflection?

A

Angle between the reflected ray and the normal line

35
Q

What is a ray box?

A

A ray box is a metal or plastic that contains a lamp. Used to investigate the properties
