What does the Physical layer do?
Is responsible for the physical cable or wireless connection between network nodes.
What dose the Data Link layer do?
Establishes and terminates a connection between two physically connected nodes on a network.
What does the Network layer do?
The network layer uses network addresses route packets to a destination node.
What does the Transport layer do?
Responsible for ensuring reliable data transfer, error detection, and flow control between end to end systems in a network.
What does the Session layer do?
Responsible for opening sessions, ensuring they remain open and functional while data is being transferred, and closing them when communication ends.
What does the Presentation layer do?
Responsible for translating, encrypting, and compressing data, ensuring that it is in the appropriate format for the application layer and the network.
What does the Application layer do?
Provides network services directly to end user applications, enabling email, file transfer, and web browsing by interfacing with the underlying network layers.
