P6 - Molecules Flashcards
1
Q
What is the definition of density?
A
Density is how much mass is in a certain volume.
2
Q
What is the equation for density?
A
Density = mass/volume
3
Q
What is the method for finding the density of a regular shape?
A
- Use a ruler to measure height, width and length of shape
- Times together length, width and height to find the volume of the shape
- Weigh the object in grams to find the mass
- Use density = mass/volume to work out density
4
Q
What is the method for finding density of a liquid?
A
- Measure the beaker by itself and then add the water and measure again. The difference between the masses is the mass of the liquid
- Put the liquid into measuring cylinder and to find the volume
5
Q
What is the archimedes principle?
A
If an object is submerged in a liquid, the level of the liquid will rise. The volume of fluid displaced will be equal to the volume of the object submerged.
6
Q
What is the method for finding the density of a non-regular shape?
A
- Find the mass of the object
- Fill eureka can with water and wait for excess to pour out
