part 1 Flashcards
Collective name of tissue type that includes epithelial, connective, nervous, and muscular tissues.
primary tissue
Histological term for extracellular material.
matrix
Name of the strata (layer) of the first organization of human cells into tissues during development.
primary germ layers
outer layer germ cells that forms the epidermis and devours system.
ectoderm
Inner layer of germ cell that forms mucous membranes of digestive and respiratory tracts.
endoderm
Middle layer of germ cell that gives rise to muscle, bone, and blood.
mesoderm
Gelatinous tissue composed of collagen fibers and branching cells.
mesenchyme
Covers the surface of the body, lines the body cavities and organ, and constitutes the majority of glandular腺 tissue.
epithelial tissue
Layer between epithelium and underlying connective tissue.
basement membrane
Mucous secreting cell
goblet cell
Single layer flattened cells such as in the lung alveoli
simple squamous epithelium
single layer of square or round cells such as in kidney tubes.
simple cuboidal epithelium
Single layer of tall, narrow cells; oval or sausage-shape nuclei such as in the lining of the digestive tract.
simple columnar epithelium
Appears multilayered; some cells don’t reach the apical surface but all reach the basement membrane ; located in the lining of the respiratory tract.
pseudo stratified columnar epithelium
Multiple cell layers with cells becoming increasingly flat toward the surface ; surface covered with a layer of compact dead cells without nuclei.
stratified squamous epithelium - keratinized
