By the peacemaker - sinoatrial node, the medulla in the brain through the autonomic nervous system, sympathetic nerve which release non adrenaline and parasympathetic nerves which release acetylcholine
What is normal blood pressure?
120/70mmHg
Name parts of the lymph system?
Tonsils and the spleen.
When do lymph glands swell up?
During times of illness eg tonsillitis
What do lymph vessels have that veins also have?
Valves to maintain the flow of fluid
What is the name of tissue fluid in the lymph vessels?
Lymph.
What does lymph nodes do?
Removes bacteria by the action of macrophages and lymphocytes
Why does lymph tend to have more fat suspended in it?
Because it is the specialised lymphatics of the villi called lacteals which collect digested fat and deliver to the main circulation
Can red blood and white blood cells escape from the capillaries?
Red blood cells can’t.
White blood cells are capable of squeezing through the gaps in the capillary walls
Where is cholesterol found?
In all of the cell membranes
What happens to levels of FSH if pregnancy were to occur
They would decrease due to the high levels of progesterone which would inhibit them
What would happen to the levels of progesterone during pregnancy
They would increase
What would happen to levels of Oestrogen if pregnancy occurred
FSH stimulates the production of oestrogen so oestrogen would decrease as FSH has decreased
