How do you check what PN you need for an aircraft?

What is a PMA part?

A

PMA parts are parts manufactured under a PMA approval. They are parts that are not manufactured or approved by the OEM or the type cert holder. Only non critical components can be fitted to Aer Lingus aircraft if they are PMA parts Ref MMOE 2.2.4

Q What Information is on a Form 1?

A

A Form 1 is made up with 14 sections, section 13 and 14 have sub sections.
Section 13 is used to certify a new part and section 14 is used to certify a repaired/inspected part. Block 12 is a remarks section which will give details of the work performed and any outstanding maintenance requirements.
Engineers should always review box 12 before installing a part. Boxes 6 to 11 will give details of the part including a Description, PN SN and Status. Box 1 to 5 will give details of the organisation releasing the part, their authority and an individual Form 1 Tracking Number. User/Installer responsibilities will also be recorded on the Form 1

How would you know from the Form 1 if a part is new or repaired?

A

Block 13 is used to certify new parts and Block 14 is used to certify Repaired parts.

What Paperwork comes with a consumable part?

A

A Batch number and certificate of conformity the certificate of conformity is normally held in stores so the engineer will only get the batch number.

What are shelf life stickers?

A

Shelf life stickers are attached to parts if they have a shelf life the shelf life will be on the batch label. A report is run in AMOS and all shelf life items that have expired are removed from stock. Material on the hangar floor are not controlled by AMOS but stock control checks are performed on the storage presses. It is the engineer’s responsibility to always check the shelf life before use.

What is in Block 12 of a Form 1?

A

It is a remarks section on the Form 1 and will give details of the work that was performed and if any outstanding work/requirements are required. Engineers should always review block 12 when installing a part.

A

Us parts should be blanked and tagged correctly. U/S parts can only be stored on the designated U/S parts shelf.

If we are AOG can we fit a part without a Form 1?

A

The MMOE allows a part without a Form 1 to be fitted for 30 Hours if the aircraft is AOG at an outstation, If the aircraft is in Dublin the TQM should be contacted and advised before the part is fitted. ref MMOE procedure 2.2.5.

How do you handle Fail on Fit units?

A

The unit should be processed in the normal manner. Label booked onto the aircraft and then label booked off. Ref MMOE 2.19.2 and TN gen-29-2012.
