1. Description- systematic observation that are quantified and classified. Not causal explanations.
Ex. number of praise a teacher give in class

2. Prediction (aka. correlation; co-variation) Two events that may regularly occur at the same time. This does not mean they cause each other.
   Ex. Weather is hot–> drowning occurs.
   
   • we cannot assume hot weather occurs drownings.
3. Control (aka causation) High Level of Understanding. Experimental demonstration is down when manipulating one event (IV) control another event (DV)
   Ex. Out of seat behavior is zero when breaks are given 20 mins. Out of seat behavior occurs when breaks are increased to 45 mins. This was repeated many time and yielded the same results.
