  2. Ensure the person has been informed of the reasons for the arrest
  3. Evaluate the physical and mental state of the person

    - existing injury and related circumstances
    - existing medical condition, including but not limited to physical illness, mental illness, drug use/addiction, alcohol use/addiction
    • safety concerns
    • other self-disclosed condition to which police should be alerted

  5. Ensure person is transported to hospital of required
  6. Inquire if the person has an item of religious significance on their person or in their possession and comply with item 32
  7. Inquire if the person has any gender-affirming articles or gender-prosthetics on their person or in their possession and comply with item 30
  8. Ensure the person has been informed of their RTC, including the availability of free legal advice through duty counsel and legal aid
  9. Ensure access to a telephone is afforded as soon as practicable and “NO CALL DESIRED” or the telephone # is recorded in the ARREST-BOOKING/CELL MANAGEMENT screen.
  10. Ensure the necessary notations are made in the ARREST BOOKING/ CELL MANAGEMENT screen
  11. Record all pertinent info in memo book.

    - ANY event which is likely to result in a complaint or SIU investigation
    - ANY change in CONDITION of persons I/C
  3. Ensure the DAMS units are operating properly
  4. Immediately notify the OIC if the equipment malfunctions

Upon determining a person I/C will be turned over to another law enforcement agency for investigation SHALL ENSURE

  1. Frontline officers are returned to active duty as soon as practicable
  2. The applicable ereports and ARREST BOOKING/CELL MGMT screen is properly completed.
  3. The receiving law enforcement agency is made aware of any pertinent information regarding the person I/C including, but not limited to
    - known / suspected suicidal tendencies
    - violent tendencies
    - serious medical conditions
    - assistive devices
    - safety concerns
    - injuries

    - medication or if any medication as been administered
    - impairment due to alcohol/ drugs
    - ACCOMODATIONS TO PROTECT THE RIGHTS IF TRANS IR GENDER DIVERSE PERSON

Upon completion of the investigation SHALL

A
  1. Ensure the applicable eReports and the ARREST BOOKING/CEll MGMT screen have been properly completed AND the REQUIRED DOCS have been SCANNED and ATTACHED to the original eReport.
  2. When the person I/C is a young person, ENSURE THE YCJA PARENT is complete and SERVED AT THE STN, whenever possible.
  3. Release OR continue to detain the person in compliance with the applicable procedures

A
  1. ACCEPT custody of the person , where the ORIGINAL unit has COMPLIED with APPLICABLE PROCEDURES
  2. Ensure RELEVANT information regarding the person in RECORDED in the ARREST/BOOKING/ CELL mgmt screen
  3. REVIEW the PRISONER TRANSPORTATION REPORT for any remarks or cautions
  4. RECORD any OBSERVATIONS regarding a prisoner’s PHYSICAL and MENTAL CONDTION
