What is gastrulation?
Formation of the blastocyst plate, endoderm mesoderm ectoderm
What structures are derived from the endoderm?
GI tract, liver, pancreas, biliary tree, lungs
Which structures are derived from the mesoderm?
Cardiovascular system, blood vessels, heart, urinary tract, bone, muscle, subcutaneous tissue, ovaries and testes, kidneys
What structures are derived from the ectoderm?
Skin, CNS, PNS, sweat and mammary glands, hair
Which of the aortic arches regress?
1,2 and 5
What do the aortic arches become?
1 and 2 go away, 3 becomes ICA and CCA. 4 becomes right subclavian and aortic arch. 5 regresses. 6 = ductus arterioles and pulmonary trunk. 7 = left subclavian artery.
What do the 4 pharyngeal pouches turn into ?
1 - middle ear. 2 - palatine tonsils. 3 - inferior parathyroid glands. 4 - superior parathyroid glands and parafollicular C cells (calcitonin)
