Physical VS. Chemical/Parts of a Chemical+Counting Atoms Flashcards
What is Physical Changes?
A phsical change alters the form of a subtance. (Such as it’s shape or state of matter.) But doesn’t change what the substance is
What is Chemical changes?
A Chemical change is a process where atoms are rearranging creating a different substance with different properties and energy is earther relesed or obzerved
What are 6 examples of evidence of chemical changes?
Color change, Relese of light, change in oder, gas relesed, tempature change, and a percipitate (solid to liquid to gas) is formed
What is Reactants?
The substance or substances that undergo a change in reaction (i.e. - your starting materials)
What are products?
The substance that form after a chemical reaction has taken place (i.e. - what you end up with
What are subscripts (part 1)
-Tells you how many atoms there are in a element;
numbers represented slightly low and to the side of a character
What are subscripst (part 2)
Located at the bottom right of the element
What are coefficents
Indicate how many of each compound you have
What are brackets (part 1)
Indicate the number of molecules attached to another atom within the compound
What are brakets (part 2)
Each atom inside the multiplyed by the subscript at the lower right to of the bracket
