be at least 17
read /write english
3rd class medical (at least)
required ground /flight endorsement
meet aeronautical experience
pass required knowledge and practical test
what are the limitations of a private pilot
- No carrying passengers or property for hire.
- Cannot be PIC of an aircraft in connection with any business or employment
- Must pay equal amount of cost for flight
- May act as PIC of a charitable, non profit, or community event flight.
- May act as search and rescue
- at least 200 hours to be a aircraft salesman
- may pull glider or unpowered if they meet 14 CFR 61.29
- may act as test pilot for light support aircraft granted they meet 14 CFR 21.190
what is a high performance aircraft?
engine more than 200 hp
need a one time endorsement from flight instructor.
what is a complex aircraft?
plane that has retractable landing gear , flaps or controllable pitch propeller.
need endorsement from instructor by completing training
