Tropism
What is phototropism?
When a plant grows toward a light source
What hormone is released that causes the cells further away from the light to grow faster?
Auxin
What is gravitropism?
A plants response to gravity
What will happen to a plants stem during gravitropism?
The stem will grow away from the pull of gravity (up); this is negative gravitropism
What will happen to a plants roots during gravitropism?
The roots will grow toward the pull of gravity (down), this is called positive gravitropism
What stimulates the cells to grow?
Auxin
What other responses do plants have?
(nastictropism) A venus fly trap; when something touches the leaf there’s a drop in turgor pressure that triggers the leaf to close
