What is Phloem?
Phloem are cells for the transport of sugars from the leaves to the rest of the plant.
What is Xylem?
Xylem are cells for transport of water and minerals up the stem from the roots to the leaves.
What is Transpiration?
Transpiration is the loss of water from leaves. This occurs through small openings called stomata that are found in the epidermis of leaves and young stems. Stomata are generally numerous on the outside leaves. They also provide for the exchange of gases between the outside air and the and the branched system of interconnecting air canals within the leaf . (NB stomate is singular, stomata is plural)
