Adenosine?

A

Creeps up slowly during the day and the higher it is the more sleepy you are.

Caffeine is an adenosine antagonist. Coffee binds to the adenosine receptor and blocks the signal.

The higher the adenosine the more tired you are. Circadian force can interrupt this. Ex. If you have an all nighter the adenosine May fall in the morning with sunlight
