Communist
Government should be run by councils of workers, powerful and protected workers/employees, less military dependence, industries and companies should be owned by the government, publicly.
Social democrats
Key industries are operated by the government, the Treaty of Versailles should be honored, the constitution must protect workers.
National socialists
capitalist/militant based, the government should be run by the army and wealthy, and industries should be privately owned.
The military is always being expanded, Jews and foreigners are extremely restricted as to Nazi belief, they are the cause of Germany’s problems. Democratic government is outlawed.
What types of people would have voted for communists?
Factory and agricultural workers, pacifists, “intellectuals” like teachers and professors.
What types of people would have voted for social democrats
Some professionals, business people, and workers, Roman Catholics.
What types of people would have voted for the Nazi
Army, unemployed, farmers, aristocrats, and big business owners.
Why might people choose not to interfere with Hitler’s plans once they realized he intended to blame minority groups for the condition of Germany?
Fear of persecution. The Gestapo. Glad it was happening to other people, and not them. Some people thought he was right!
Hitler claimed the Weimar Republic was full of “Jews and Communists.” Why did he make these accusations? What were his goals?
He blamed these minority groups for “Jewish Communism” when in reality all he wanted was to get lebensraum, and in order to do that, he would need to exterminate those people in order to make space for “his”. He practiced anti-Semitism for lebensraum. Jews and Communists were easy targets.
