Facism
A political ideology that promotes a government led by a single dictator, suppression of opposition, economic regimentation and extreme patriotism.
Imperialism
A policy of government that seeks to increase a countries size and influence by colonisation, war, or political persuasion over other countries.
Nazism
The socialist views held by the Nazi’s in Germany from 1933-45 that include the belief of Aryan supremacy, expansion of German influence, strict government control over the economy and obedience to the leader.
Socialism
The political theory that the means of production and distribution should be decided by the community as a whole.
Communism
A political ideology promoting each member of society contributing and receiving “according to their own ability” and their needs, and the elimination of private property. A single authoritarian party controls the state-owned means of production “on behalf of the people.”
Democracy
A system of government in which the leading officials or decisions made are decided by the vote of the people.
Capitalism
An economic and political system in which trade and industry, means of production and distribution of wealth are largely decided by private individuals and corporations.
Nationalism
Extreme loyalty and devotion to ones own country and the belief that ones country is superior to all the others.
National self determination
The creation of a government system or state by the people of a country.
Militarism
A government system by which the military’s interests are highly prioritised, and there is a strong military presence throughout the country.
