What is the N1 section?

No, its a self contained unit

Will the engine be able to power the accessory gear box and its components at idle power?

YES

What are the 2 speed controls in the engine and when are they used?

N2 speed control: lower power settings, fuel is metered to match the N2 on both engines
N1 speed control: takeoff, climb, cruise power setting: fuel is metered to control N1 fan, N1 provides better N1 matching of power settings

When does speed control switch over?

When END SPEED control switches are on and N1 is greater than 79%

What stage does the ATS (air turbine starter) use?

10th stage, mechanically rotates the N2 for engine starting

What are the bleed air sources that can be used for engine start?

Cross bleed
APU
External air start/cart or bottle

When does CONT IGN come on automatically?

Stall protection

OPEN: L/R 10th stage, 10th stage ISOL, ATS valve

APR is armed for 5 min, will give an extra 2% on operating engine

APR OFF performance calculations must be made

Not visible, but it is continuously monitored

NO, crew must check QRH when in amber arc or N2 VIB is displayed

A rapid increase in ITT and RPM will occur and max limits may be exceeded
