Q

prevention :

A

1-Change positions every 15 minutes if you’re seated or every one to two hours if you’re in a bed. A caregiver can help you do this if you’re unable to reposition yourself.
2-Check your skin regularly (or have a caregiver do it) to look for changes in skin color and sensations (tenderness or pain, warmth or coolness).
3-Eat a nutritious diet and stay well hydrated.
4-Keep your skin clean and dry. Apply moisture barrier creams to protect your skin from sweat, urine and stool.
5-Participate in physical therapy exercises.
6-Seek help to quit smoking. Nicotine slows wound healing.
