What is batch production?

A

The production of one type of a product for a while then changing the production to another type of product. The firm will switch back to the first when more are needed

A

The needs of different customers can be met by making batches of different foods
Batches are made for specific orders do reduces costs as there is no need for storage

A

Takes time to switch production as they may need to reset which adds to cost
May need to keep stocks of materials and components to be able to switch production when required. Holding stock costs money
Tasks mAy be repetitive and boring for workers

A

Large amounts can be made
Low costs from economies of scale
Machinery used to keep costs low

A

Not good quality
Expensive to set up production lines
Large stocks of materials may have kt be kept to keep the production line supplied which may be expensive
If the production stops at any point on the assembly line there may be a complete stop of production
Jobs on an assembly line can be repetitive and boring
