Q

What is Division of Labour?

INFO ONLY

A

Division of labour is the splitting of the production process into a number of individual operations, thereby allowing workers to specialise.

Adam Smith 1723 observed the pin making process and saw that by dividing the process up into small tasks, carried out by different workers, on average a worker could produce 5,000 pins a day, as opposed to a few dozen had the workers made each pin individually.
