Properties Of Equality/Unit:2 Flashcards
Addition Property of Equality (APE)
Used when you add same # to both sides of an equation
If a=b and c=d, then a+c = b+d
Subtraction Property of Equality (SPE)
Used when you subtract the same # from both sides of an equation
If a=b and c=d, then a-c = b-d
Multiplication Property of Equality (MPE)
Used when you multiply both sides of an equation by the same #
If a=b, then ca=cb
Division Property of Equality (DPE)
Used when you divide both sides of an equation by the same #
If a=b and c does not =0, then a/c=b/c
Substitution Property of Equality
If a+b =12 and c=b, then a+c=12
