What does deviation from social norms means
All societies have their standards of behaviour and attitudes. Deviating from these can be seen as abnormal
Deviation from statistical norms meaning
Abnormality can be seen as statistically rare behaviour - this can be expressed in the terms of normal distribution
Failure to function adequately meaning
You cant cooperate with the demands of day to day life
What are the 6 conditions of ideal mental health
Positive self attitude
Self actualisation
Resistance to stress
Personal autonomy
Accurate perception of reality
Adaptation to the environment

It can also be used to justify the remove of unwanted people of unwanted people in society
For example : people who oppose on a political policy can be seen as abnormal

Desirable of behaviour - high and low IQ are abnormal but having High iq is desired whereas low iq isn’t

Opposite - freeze / faint = fight or flight response (to make predator think they’re dead)

resistance to logic (revisiting the fact that something is safe that is triggering your phobia eg heights)
PHOBIA EMOTIONAL
Marked and persistent. - anxiety and panic - cued by presence of object or anticipation (fear of heights)
DEPRESSION EMOTIONAL
sadness with feeling of emptiness, worthless and hopeless - low self esteem
Loss of interest of hobbies

Affected sleep - difficult to sleep or sleeping every time
Appetite affected

Negative thoughts - negative self concept - self fulfilling prophecy
