Cystic Fibrosis

A

A a genetic disease. This means that CF is inherited.disorder that damages your lungs, digestive tract and other organs. It’s an inherited disease caused by a defective gene that can be passed from generation to generation. Cystic fibrosis affects the cells that produce mucus, sweat and digestive juices
SYMPTOMS: A persistent cough that produces thick mucus (sputum)
Wheezing.
Exercise intolerance.
Repeated lung infections.
Inflamed nasal passages or a stuffy nose.
Recurrent sinusitis.

A tracheoesophageal fistula (TEF) is an abnormal connection between these two tubes. As a result, swallowed liquids or food can be aspirated (inhaled) into your child’s lungs. Feeding into the stomach directly can also lead to reflux and aspiration of stomach acid and food.
