What are BBB Taxes?
the Bed, Board and Booze tax
Key struggle for downtown merchants?
Tourists are on a train or at GC during the day and so they hardly walk around the downtown area- tourists taking the train don’t come downtown
What is boomtown tourism/How is william’s an example/how have residents responded?
Community acceptance of tourism activity starts off low because of the initial social disruption caused by the appearance of a large-scale tourism operation; the community adapts to the tourism operation’s existence, and through time, residents’ attitudes toward tourism become more positive; In Williams in a short time period . a large corporate tourism operation transformed the town but has not been able to adapt with community attitudes decreasing because it has been a fast growing operation
Different themes to promote tourism
1920s themed train stand in 21st century Williams, on Route 66, in front of a black- and-white-checkered 1950s-themed diner, watching 1880s- themed cowboys perform a staged gunfight while a 1860s Civil War band stands ready to play once it is over.
