recession Flashcards

1
Q

what is the difference between true recession and gingival shrinkage?

A

true recession- can be localised/generalise-ID papillae intact- normally occurs on buccal/lingual/palatal gingivae

Q

what are causes of true recession?

A
  • chronic minor inflammation due to improper toothbrushing
  • factitious injury
  • orthodontic tx
  • excessive scaling
  • frenum pulls
  • dehiscence -loss of bone - common in low lingual as cortical bone is thin
  • fenestration- window of bone missing
