Recovery Process Flashcards
1
Q
EPOC
A
Excess post - exercise oxygen consumption
2
Q
Oxygen deficit
A
amount of oxygen that the performer requires to complete an activity aerobically
3
Q
Oxygen debt
A
amount of oxygen needed to return the body to a resting state
4
Q
4 tasks that occur before muscle can operate efficiently again
A
- Replacement of ATP and phosphocreatine
- Replenishment of myoglobin with oxygen
(FAST) - Removal of lactic acid
- Replacement of glycogen.
(SLOW)
5
Q
Lactic acid is removed in 4 ways
A
Cori - cycle
1. 65% of pyruvic acid is oxidised and re enters the krebs cycle.
2. 25% converted into glucose and stored in muscles as glycogen. (GLUCONEOGENIS)
3. Lactic acid into glycogen (GLYCONEOGENIS)
4. 10% converted into protein.
