a primary source is getting the information first hand like interviews and things like that and a secondary source is to presenting someone else’s analysis second hand like taking the information off the internet

a research essay resents and supports an argument or thesis based on research and a research report is the report of an original investigation, technical, includes descriptions of methods and results
