COPD, atelectasis, pneumonia, pulmonary edema, ARDS

Manifestations of respiratory failure
A
Hypoxemia 45mmHg resp acidosis (can't expel co2) underlying causes (e.g.: CF)

Treatment of Respiratory Failure
A
restore gas exchange - admin o2, ventilation, bronchodilators
treat underlying cause (e.g.: AB is bacterial pneumonia)
