Scalar / Vector Quanity/combination Vectors Flashcards
Scalar quantity
A scalar quantity is on which has a magnitude but no direction. In other words it is a quantity that can completely be defined by a number and a unit.
What are some example of scalar quantity.
Time, distance, Mass, density
What is vector quantity
Vector quantity is one that has both magnitude and direction.
What are some examples of vector quantity
Force, displacement, velocity, acceleration
What can a vector be represented in
A vector can be represented in a form of a diagram by a line segment draw to scale in a particular direction.
What is combination vectors.
The vector derived combination of 2 vector is referred to as the resultant vector or the resultant
The resultant of 2 vector are parallel acting in the same direction of the sum of the magnitude of the vector in the given direction
The vector is in opposite direction The resultant in the magnitude is equal to different between the 2 vector and in the direction of the lager vector
The resultant of 2 vector which are perpendicular is found by drawing a scale diagram to the magnitude the resultant can be determined by Pythagoras Theron with the appropriate trigonometry to find its direction.
