19
Q

How does encrypting a file protect a file from theft

A

If you view the file it will be meaningless, unless you have the encryption key which will decode the file so it makes sense

20
Q

How does a network key protect a file from theft

A

People cannot use the WiFi network unless they have the network key so they cannot access any devices which are attached to the network eg the file server printer etc,

21
Q

How do access rights protect a file from theft

A

Access Rights can be No Access (Student Access to Staff Area), Read Only (Student Access to Shared ICT) or Read Write access (Student access to files in their user area) This means some files such as payroll or new characters can only be viewed or altered by certain staff.

22
Q

How does a firewall protect a file from theft

A

Programs on the internet cannot access the computer behind the firewall unless they have permission. The same is true for programs on the computer access the internet.,

23
Q

Give 3 ways colleagues working in different geographical area collaborate

A

Email, SMS, Video Conferencing, Social Media & the Cloud

24
Q

How does Richard collaborate using email

A

Richard can send email messages to colleagues and reply to their emails

25
Q

How do you share files using email

A

You send the person an email and attached the file to it as an attachment.

26
Q

How would an animator use a projector

A

Animator may be doing a presentation to an audience of a new character which they want all of the people to easily see,.

27
Q

How would an animator use a printer

A

In a meeting would use hard copies of new characters or at show they could be on flyers to be given out to people to advertise the characters.

28
Q

How does Richard collaborate using SMS

A

Use smart phone to text or reply to Catherine of other staff

29
Q

How does Richard collaborate using Videoconferencing

A

Can speak and see Catherine over an internet connection

30
Q

What input devices for video conferencing

A

Web cam and Microphone

31
Q

What out put devices for video conferencing

A

Screen and speakers

32
Q

What data transfer technology could be used for video conferencing

A

Wired would be best because has highest band width so better quality images and sound. The image could be on a large screen or even projected.

33
Q

Issue of 3G and video conferencing

A

3G has low bandwidth so possibly poor image quality along with the cost for the use of data

34
Q

How does Richard collaborate using Blog

A

Richard posts his diary events which other people can read to find out what he has been doing and photographing

35
Q

How does Richard collaborate using social media

A

Facebook with lots of friends where he can post images and write about what he is doing along with private messaging some people.
Also Twitter which people can “Follow” him with his messages, follow links to images and follow his #tags

36
Q

Issue of open WiFi and video conferencing

A

Open Wifi could have low bandwidth so image/sound quality poor and other people could watch the conversation

37
Q

Issue of Wireless key WiFi (SSID) and video conferencing

A

Should be better bandwidth than Open WiFi but bandwidth may only be good enough for a small screen and not good sound

38
Q

All staff at Animated World books head office are thinking of using Laptop computers. Give 3 features of a laptop computer.

A

Portable, run son battery so no need to be permanently connected to mains. Can take the computer home with them and continue with work at home or on train or elsewhere in the world with the file stored on that machine for security.

39
Q

Problem of proprtiory file types

A

If you have not got the software which created the proprietary file format you cannot open/edit the file.

40
Q

What is the benefit of using an eye dropper an image

A

You can pick the exact colour you require for a particular task

41
Q

Wired network advantage

A

Fastest connection - highest bandwidth - send data quicker than other methods

42
Q

Wired disadvantage

A

Have to be able to plug into the network and there may not be any connections or spare ones

43
Q

wireless Network advantage

A

Wireless Advantage as long as close to the router you can use the connection and you can move around and still use it.

44
Q

What are bitmap graphics

A

Images made of pixels (individual squares) Cameras and scanner produce bitmap images. Created by Photoshop.

45
Q

What are the disadvantages of bitmap graphics

A

zoom in and can see individual pixels, larger file size than vector

46
Q

wireless network disadvantage

A

If too far from the router connection may stop working and connection speed is not as fast as a cable /wire connection
