Data is stored magnetically in small areas on the disk’s circular tasks.
HDDs
are popular for backing up and transporting large amounts of data
HDDs
HDDs are reliable/unreliable, short lasting/long and cannot/can be broken
Reliable, long, can.
Solid state drives aren’t/are reliable, and are slow/fast
Are reliable and are fast.
SSDs write/read faster than HDDs. Gives quicker time for booting up operating systems and files.
SSDs are…
Storage devices with no moving parts.
What type of memory do SSDs use?
Flash memory, a type of non-volatile memory.

Higher capacity
Longer read/write life
SSDs are faster
Durable
Stronger.
Optical disks are expensive/cheap
Cheap
CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray are from
Optical
Optical disks have…
Low capacity, not fast, unreliable and can get damaged easily.
Magnetic tapes are used for archiving
Greater storage capacity than HDDs and is low cost per GB.
