why cant sheila act upon the inspectors lessons

A

-although sheila learns the inspectors lesson she can not act upon it as she has no political vote or power
-she cannot become independent of her parents except through marriage
-the female audience were able to vote, this is a play about empowering women
-at the end of the play when gerald still wants to marry she doesn’t only refuse but she states “not yet” she needs this marriage gain independence
