16
Q

Initial stage

A

Early stages at cellular level, cells don’t get enough oxygen
Person is agitated

17
Q

Compensatory stage

A

Body tries to compensate

18
Q

Factors that influence compensatory stage

A

1) Serverity
2) General health
3) Age
4) Tissue demands at the time of shock

19
Q

Signs and symptoms of compensatory stage

A

1) Tachycardia
2) Tachypnea
3) Cold/pale skin
4) decreased urine output
5) restless/agitated
6) low BP
7) Diaphoresis
8) Weak peripheral pulses
9) Narrow pulse pressure

20
Q

Progressive stage

A

When compensatory stage falls, this is last chance to save the client

21
Q

Signs and symptoms of progressive stage

A

1) Anxiety/confused/decreased LOC
2) Cold/cyanotic/mottled skin
3) No diaphoresis
4) No urine output
5) RR at least 30 breaths/min
6) Heart rate over 120
7) No peripheral pulses
8) BP less than 80mmHg/ unobtainable

22
Q

Refractory stage

A

Irreversible and inevitable

Multiple organ failure/dysfunction
