Hand Hygiene
-Lathers all surfaces of wrists, hands, and fingers producing friction, for at least 20 secs, keeping hands lower than elbows and fingertips down
-Rinse all surfaces of wrists, hands, and fingers, keeping hands below elbows, fingertips down
Applies One Knee-High Elastic Stocking
Materials: 1 elastic stocking
-Finishes with no twists or wrinkles and heel of stocking is over heel of foot
Assists to Ambulate Using A Transfer Belt
Materials: Non-skid Shoes, Gait Belt
-client is wearing non-skid shoes before standing
-client is assisted to sitting position, feet flat on the floor
Assists with Use of Bedpan
Materials: 2 Pairs of Gloves, Bedpan, 1 Chux, Wipes, Toilet Paper
-call light is given after placing bedpan
-Raise resident head after placing bedpan
-lower resident head before removing bedpan
Cleans Upper or Lower Dentures
Materials: Gloves, Denture Cup, Denture toothbrush/toothpaste, 1 towel, 3 emesis basins
-toothbrush bristles always up
-teeth of dentures always up

-make sure the patient’s legs are not crossed, feet flat on the floor

Donning and Removing PPE
Materials: 1 Gown, Gloves
-when removing, grasps first glove at the palm to remove
-when removing, slides 2 fingers under 2nd glove to remove
-unfastens gown at neck and waist, holds gown away from body and floor, turns gown inwards to dispose
Dresses Client With Affected Right Arm
Materials: 2 gown options, privacy blanket
-undresses unaffected left arm first, then affected right arm
-dresses affected right arm first, then unaffected left arm
Feeds Client Who Cannot Feed Self
Materials: Clothing Protector, Food Tray, Food Card, Hand Wipes, Chair
-CHECK FOOD CARD AND ASK PATIENT TO STATE NAME
-Client is in a High Fowler’s Position
-Places tray in front of client
-Cleans Client’s hands before eating and after meal
-Tells Client to check temp of food
-Leaves client in upright feeding position
Gives Modified Bath
Materials: 2 pair of gloves, privacy blanket, gown, basin, soap, 1 large towel, 6 hand towels, 1 chuck
-farthest side first/closest side last
-with no soap, cleans eyes from inner aspect to outer aspect
-replaces gloves before dressing resident with gown
Meas
Measures and Records Urinary Output
Materials: Gloves, bedpan, measuring container, towel
-uses towel as barrier on table
-reads measuring device at eye level (on one knee)

Measures and Records Weight of Ambulatory Client
Materials: Pen & Paper, non-skid shoes
-makes sure client is wearing non-skid shoes before weighing
+-2lbs
Performs Modified Passive ROM for One Knee& Ankle OR One Shoulder
-asks patient if they are feeling any pain during procedure
-supports knee and ankle when performing ROME on knee
-supports foot and ankle close to bed when performing ROME on foot
-supports elbow and wrist when performing ROME on shoulder
Positions On Side
Materials: 3 Pillows
-adjusts/places pillow under head after turning
-repositions arm and shoulder so client is not lying on arm
-places pillow behind client’s back first
-places pillow supporting the top arm’s elbow and wrist
-places pillow supporting in between knees and ankles
