Q

What is the path that data takes through the SMG RAMP?

A

From the WSR-88Ds, data is sent from the WINS to the SMG RAMP. From there it goes through the radinput to dataset to mosgen process. Data is then disseminated to the UDS systems and the WINS

Q

What happen to the data in the radinput process?

A

Either product 94 or 195 is ingested from the WINS. Radinput process loads adaptation parameters and builds radar elevation coverage maps. Also apples the DQE processing to the raw data.

Q

What happens to the data in the dataset process?

A

Dats is mapped to the lat/lon grid points using the radar mapping tables. The vertical profiles of the reflectivity values for each point are also built. Dataset builds an All Data and High Confidence vertical profile in 1,000ft increments

Q

What happens to the data in the mosgen process?

A

Mosgen generates layer reflectivity, echo tops, VIL, and volume reflectivity mosaics from the data. Builds the mosaics using the adaptation file and the product definition file. Prod_definition file tells mosgen whether to use the all data or high confidence algorithm

Q

Where are the SMG mosaics published after the mosgen process?

A

Regional mosaics are sent to the CDN and LDN which are sent to the CPN and LPN respectively before being displayed on PCW and GWII. UDS mosaics are sent via the commuds portion of the RAMP to the UDS systems.
