the status that you are born into based on the things that you are born with

the aquired status through ones efforts, choices, and accomplishments

behaviors, obligations, and privledges that are attached to a status

defined roles that are structured by laws, policies, and organization guidelines

what is master status?
the most prominent role in one’s identity, takes precedence over other roles one may have
what is role conflict?
clashes of expectations due to having multiple roles
what is a group?
a collective of individuals
what is a primary group?
small, intimate groups charecterized by long term emotional relationships
