Spinal Cord Flashcards
What make up the dorsal column
Fasciculus Cuneatus and Fasciculus Gracilis
Is Dorsal Column Sensory or Motor
Sensory
What does Fas. Cuneatus Innervate?
Upper Limbs/Upper Body Trunk
What does Fas. Gracilis Innervate?
Lower Limbs/Lower Body Trunk
Where does Medial Lemniscus Start?
Medulla(nucleus gracilis and nucleus cuneatus)
Where are synapses for Dorsal Column/Medial Lemniscus
1st-Nuclei in Medulla, 2nd Thalamus, terminate in Cerebral cortex
What are the 2 spinocerebellar tracts?
Dorsal and Ventral
What do spinocerebellar tracts do?
Transmit impulses from trunk/lower limb proprioceptors to cerebellum (no decussation) for subconscious proprioception.
Where do spinocerebellar neurons synapse?
1st-Lumbar spinal cord, 2nd-termination in cerebellum.
What do lateral spinothalamic neurons/tracts do?
Transmit sensation of pain and temperature to opposite side of brain.
What do ventral spinothalamic neurons/tracts do?
Transmit impulses of crude touch and pressure to opposite side of brain.
What are the descending tracts?
Lateral corticospinal, ventral corticospinal,
