What is a soft tissue injury?
Strain or rupture of muscles, tendons, nerves or ligaments
What is a hard tissue injury?
Injury that involves a bone. Such as fractures, dislocations or breaks
What does DRSABCD mean?
D- check for danger R- Check for a response S- Send for help A- Check airways B- See if breathing C- CPR D- Defibrillation
What does SALTAPS mean?
S- Stop play
A- Ask player (How, where, why)
L- Look for discolouration, swelling
T- Touch the injured site, compare it with other limb
A- Active Movement, can the player move the limb?
P- Passive Movement, Move the limb in different directions
S- Stand Up if player can go on
Why do you apply compression to a injury?
To keep the swelling of the injury down and restricts internal bleeding
How long do you need to apply ice to a injury?
Apply for 20 minutes then once an hour for 24-72 hours
If a player was injured on a field, what acronym would you use?
SALTAPS

No H- Heat A-Alcohol R-Running M-Massages
