Stroke Part 2 (Evaluation & Treatment) Flashcards
1
Q
What is a common theoretical framework used for people who have stroke?
A
OT task oriented approach
2
Q
What is the OT task oriented approach?
A
Top down, client centered, occupation based approach
Looks at person, task, and environmental factors on our motor performance
Functional tasks help organize behavior
3
Q
5 steps of evaluation, task oriented approach
A
- Role identification (focus on role and current ability) can use role checklist or OPHI-IO occupational performance history interview
- Observation/assessment of occupational performance task (ex: how they’re sitting, moving in bed) (assessments to observe ADLs: Barthel index, stroke impact scale, AMPS, A-one, COPM)
- Task selection & analysis (observe patient performing functional tasks that have relevance to desired role, thorough task anaylsis.) we selectively identify unique client factors that need to be addressed (ex: vision, UE impairments) focus on areas that are limiting performance.
