Anaphora
When one subject is used and it is constantly repeated and reffered back to within the text
Listing - asyndetic and syndetic
- Asyndetic - listing connected with a comma instead of a conjunction / connective = A man with no hat, with broken shoes, with an old rag tied round his head.
• Syndetic = listing connected with a conjunction/connective–A man with no hat, and with broken shoes, and with an old rag tied round his head.
Rhetorical question
A question that is not meant to be answered
Hypophora
When a rhetorical question is asked and is immediately answered
“What should young people do with their lives today? Many things, obviously.
Declarative sentence
A sentence that states a fact , feeling or mood
Circular strucutre
When the extract starts and ends in a similar way
Minor sentence
One word sentence - creates a shock factor
Ellipisis
3 dots (…) - represents a pause or that something has been intentionally left out
Cataphoric referance
means that a word in a text refers to another later in the text and you need to look forward to understand
